YOUTH EXCHANGE FOR SUSTAINABILITY AND INCLUSION

We aimed to answer the following questions/themes:
(a) To what extent the current educational systems supported the development of sustainable education.
(b) The impact of new technologies and social media on our lives, organisations, and especially on our planet.
(c) The footprint that youths could leave for the next generations.
(d) Presenting, discussing, and analyzing the topics of reckless attitudes in today's societies regarding the environment and the planet in general.
(e) The role of NGOs, youths, and communities in addressing the above-mentioned issues.

The project also met International, EU, and Erasmus+ objectives because:

  • It encouraged the participation of youths, especially those with fewer opportunities.

  • It secured a safe and pleasant non-formal learning environment.

  • It promoted the development of:

    • Learning outcomes and the improvement of basic key competences.

    • Practices for intercultural learning, equity, and social inclusion.

    • Green education.

    • A youth-driven initiative, led by youth workers and organisations, benefiting both youths and the community.

The Youth Exchange was held in Cyprus, hosted by NECI EU, and had the following objectives:
(a) Increasing awareness of the positive impact of non-formal learning and NGO efforts for a safer and healthier planet.
(b) Developing youths’ "learning to learn" competence, with the main aim of influencing youths and the local community to create opportunities for inclusion.
(c) Offering a safe and educational space for learning by sharing knowledge with all participants, regardless of skills and background, and promoting non-formal learning based on inclusive practices and sustainable development.
(d) Exploring and understanding the power of intercultural learning and dialogue in tackling global problems.
(e) Creating tangible and intangible results that could sustain the project's impact.
